I’ve not been great at keeping this blog up to date so will try a little harder from now on!
The last few weeks have been manic! The flu bug has travelled around the Channel Islands and made us all ill in various degrees which hasn’t helped prepartion for Greenland 2009. We are all better now but a little time has been lost in training and fitness. We’ll just have to work a little harder! Steve and I spent some time in Guernsey doing PR stuff for the trip as you can see from the photos below. A windy few hours was spent on Vazon Bay getting attacked by dogs and photographers!
We also bought most of the food that makes up our daybags last week. This was kindly supplied by Checkers who have once again supplied all of our food for the expedition. Anyone wishing to buy Peperami or Chocolate was probably out of luck for the few days following our visit!
Most of the sewing has been completed now, we are all branded up and ready to visit the schools in Alderney this week, Sark next and then Guernsey starting on the 26th January. After the school visits we will be saying goodbye to most of our kit as it starts its journey, first to Cumbria, then to Iceland and finally to Tassillaq in Greenland. We can then have a relatively short period of calm before we travel ourselves on the 18th April.
